The academic science is represented by the Omsk scientific center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SO RAN), Omsk economic laboratory of the Institute of Economy and Organization of Industrial Production of SO RAN, Omsk Branch of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of SO RAN, Center of New Chemical Technologies of the Institute of Catalysis named after G.K. Boreskov of SO RAN, Institute of Radiophysics and Physical Electronics, Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of SO RAN and other scientific organizations.

Various scientific organizations are engaged in research in Omsk. Of these, there are 15 research and development centers, 6 design engineering bureaus, over 10 higher education providers. More than 20 higher education providers offer postgraduate training programs, following which one can become a scientist.
