The main part of the graphics collection consists of all types of steel engravings and lithographs of Russian, Western European and American schools of the late 16th–20th centuries. Collection of the Japanese graphic arts is rather small but is of particular importance. It’s considered to be rare artistic and ethnological materials concerned with the Ainu — the ancient people of Eastern region. Watercolors by the artist Byozan Hirasawa, who had lived with Ainu for a long time, depict the history, traditions and culture of the disappearing folk.

Prints from the series “Life and customs of Ainu” courtesy of Omsk State Museum of Fine Arts named after Mikhail Vrubel.
